Natalie Imbruglia’s London-Live

In my gay opinion, Natalie Imbruglia’s new album is a consolation prize for those of us fans who have been unlucky enough to have not seen her in concert. I’ve been a fan ever since I first heard her song “Torn” back in 1997, however, I’ve never seen her tour the USA. London-Live will just be a reminder of what I’ve been missing all these years.

London-Live was recorded during Natalie’s Left Of The Middle 25th Anniversary Tour. “Wrong Impressions” from her album White Lilies Island and “Shiver” from Counting Down the Days are the odd songs out in her set list, all the rest are from her recent album Firebird from 2021 and almost her entire Left Of Middle debut album. Her other two albums, Come To Life and Male, got completely snubbed.

Natalie sounds great, even twenty-five years later, and the recording is decent quality. I’m not a huge fan of the audience clapping but the banter between songs is kept to a minimum, which is good for multiple listens. London-Live will just have to hold me over until the 50th Anniversary Tour. That’ll give me time to get my walker in concert shape and to find a flattering pair of Depends.
