Paris Hilton’s Infinite Icon

This is definitely my year of discovering many diva I like for their acting, also sing. First it was Nico Tortorella, then Kate Hudson and now Paris Hilton.

Paris first got my attention, probably around the same time as everybody else, in 2003 when her sex tape was leaked and she starred in “The Simple Life” with her friend Nicole Richie. “The Simple Life” was a guilty pleasure of mine. Once the show went off the air, Paris fell off my radar, until last year when I started seeing her name pop up on the book tour circuit plugging her autobiography. I didn’t have any interest in her book, but this year I jumped at the chance to get a signed copy of her new album, Infinite Icon. I’m very interested to hear what she can bring to the world of music.

Full disclosure, I thought Infinite Icon was her debut album but was surprised to learn that honor goes to her 2006 album, Paris. She’s had a few singles along the way, as well. So, kicking off the new album is the song “Welcome Back” which hails Paris’ long awaited return with her battle cry “Welcome back, bitch!” The album itself is what one would expect, superficial socialite plastic pop, with it’s fun blonde beats and lyrics that are tongue-in-cheek. It wouldn’t be a Paris party without a celebrity guest list. Rina Sawayama, Meghan Trainor, Megan Thee Stallion, Sia and Maria Becerra all arrive and gift their vocals and clout.

Although I’m not a wine and cheese sort of fancy gay, I like a lot of cheese in my music, and Infinite Icon serves it up on a gold and diamond encrusted platter. In my gay opinion, Infinite Icon is so hot and is meant to be turned up while basking in it’s simplicity.
