Elle Coves’ song “Before I Fall Apart” has been on my Liked Songs List for ages and I’ve been impatiently waiting for her to drop an EP or full album. My wait is finally over, Elle finally dropped her new EP, Selfishly Inclined this month. How could I not love and relate to this title? The song the EP is named after, has to be one of the best pop songs ever, in my gay opinion. I’m obsessed.
Although her song “Before I Fall Apart” isn’t on the EP, the five songs she did choose are just as solid and pop driven. The music is uplifting while the lyrics are all self-deprecating and about the struggle…whether you’re “Selfishly Inclined” or a “Headcase”. Elle cowrote all the songs on the EP and I find myself swaying along as she shares all her feels. I love when a diva is willing to bare her soul, even when it doesn’t mean a happy ending.
Once again, I’m thankful for Discover Weekly on Spotify because that’s how Elle first hit my radar. How else would a German diva living in Ireland born to Spanish parents have found her way onto my car radio.
