This month’s Pride Party is continuing on with the release of The Aces new album, I’ve Loved You For So Long. I had certain expectations when I first listened. I was prepared for some fun pop, like their previous albums, but what The Aces delivered this time is something more alt-rock and mature. To be honest, at first I wasn’t sure about it, but with each listen I started to dig the new sound more and more with it’s hints of 80’s retro and darker lyrics.
Now I can’t even pick a favorite song because each one is so unique and just as enjoyable as the one before and after it, at least in my gay opinion. I’ve Loved You For So Long is an emotional whirlwind of eleven songs that speed by in just over a half hour. Whether you want to swoon with adoration (“I’ve Loved You For So Long”), get lost in a beat after a breakup (“Not The Same” and “Attention”), or shake away your inner self-doubts (“Always Get This Way”, “Person”, “Miserable” and “Stop Feeling”), The Aces got you covered.
When I first discovered The Aces, I was disappointed that I wasn’t able to see them in concert here in Connecticut because it conflicted with another show I was going to. Unfortunately, their current tour doesn’t have a local stop or a weekend show that is drivable. So, I’ll have to wait to experience these songs live, but seeing The Aces in concert is definitely now on my bucket list.
